About the Commission
The Ashland Conservation Commission serves the town in a regulatory and advisory way. The Commission administers the
Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, the
Ashland Wetlands Protection Bylaw and the
Ashland Stormwater Management Regulations. Through these laws, the Commission ensures the environment is protected in order to:
- Control flooding and storm damage
- Ensure that habitats for wildlife are preserved
- Prevent pollution and erosion
- Protect groundwater quality and availability
- Safeguard the town’s water supply
The Conservation Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Ashland is fortunate to have members with expertise in environmental planning, environmental regulation, forestry, and wetland science.
