2016 Runners

Jacob Guggenheim

Hi, my name is Jacob Guggenheim and my wife and I have been residents of Ashland for about 4 years. During my time here I have become very active in the town, working on a town board as well as doing what I can to volunteer.  I started running a few years ago and caught the “bug” after completing a ½ marathon in 2014. I greatly appreciate the town offering me this opportunity and it is an honor to raise money for our town.

Heather Vitti

I’m Heather Vitti and I am so excited that my first marathon will be the Boston Marathon!  I have been a runner all of my life, but have never embarked on a challenge of a marathon.  I have lived in Ashland for the past 12 years with my husband, Dave.  We have two girls, ages 6 and 8.  We really enjoy the community of Ashland and I love watching my girls thrive in both academics and athletics.  We watch the Marathon every year, and every year, I get the bug and want to run it…and now I get the opportunity to be cheered on by my girls and all of the other amazing fans!  It’s such an honor that I can run the 2016 Boston Marathon.

The Marathon is a great way to raise money to help our community.  The taxes we pay don’t cover all of the needs of the town, which relies on donations that are made throughout the year.  Programs such as the Food Pantry, Girl Scouts, and additional needs of our schools are just a few of the places this money will go towards.  Your donation will help the continued improvement of our town and help us continue to being a great host of the historic Boston Marathon.  Please consider donating to the Town of Ashland on my behalf to support my Boston Marathon challenge.

Jessica Kelly and Lauren Perry

Our names are Jessica Kelly and Lauren Perry and we are two teachers from The David Mindess School  in Ashland, Massachusetts.  We have both been teachers in the Ashland Public School System for at least 12 years.  We are both goal oriented and have set a new challenge for ourselves to push us, both mentally and physically to run the Boston Marathon in 2016. By accepting this challenge, we are also trying to support the town of Ashland through raising money which will in turn help out charitable organizations, like the Youth and Family services, which will impact the students of Ashland.   We both work at the David Mindess Elementary School and have loved enriching the lives of children in the  Ashland community through teaching.

We now have set a goal to run 26.2 miles and also to raise money to support this community.  By fundraising for the Boston Marathon, we will be able to give back to the town to support various charitable programs.  We are looking to raise at least $6,000 combined.

I got bit by the running bug a long time ago, but it wasn't until the Ashland Half Marathon in 2015 when I thought to myself "ok, maybe I am crazy enough to do the Boston Marathon!" To make matters more interesting, my wife and I are expecting child number 3 just 8 days later.  So in addition to thanking you for your contributions and generosity, a huge thanks goes out to my wife Kate who somehow agreed to let me run 26+ miles.

My husband and I moved to Ashland a little over 2 years ago, shortly after we got married, with the hope of starting our family. Nine months ago we welcomed Will, the most incredible little boy we could imagine. We've been so excited to make Ashland our home and look forward to bringing Will up in this beautiful town. My father helped us purchase and move in to our home, and celebrated our first Christmas in the new house with us. He talked us through home improvement projects and enjoyed watching us turn our house into a home. My dad passed away in March, shortly after Will was born. My father was always my biggest fan and cheering squad when I ran marathons, and he knew it was long my dream to run Boston. I am honored to be able run this year in support of my new hometown, and in memory of my dad. I can't think of a better way to honor him.

Vincent Domestico

My name is Vincent Domestico and I am crazy enough to make my first marathon the Boston Marathon.  My wife and I are both lifelong residents of the Town of Ashland and this is where we chose to raise our two children.  I have been fortunate enough to have benefited from our school system, participated in our youth sports organizations and enjoyed all that this wonderful town has to offer.  I am currently a Warren Dad and also sit on the Ashland Youth Baseball and Softball Board.

I have seen firsthand the benefits of your donations to our past Boston Marathon runners.  These donations help to provide grants for our schools, health and wellness programs for our residents, and much needed funds to our youth sports organizations, including Ashland Youth Baseball and Softball.

Please consider donating to the Town of Ashland on my behalf or on behalf of any of the other runners as we try to raise funds to benefit our Town, its residents and its organizations.  I thank you for your support of the Town of Ashland’s Boston Marathon challenge.
