FDR considered the creation of Social Security to be his greatest domestic achievement. Explore the creation and passage of the Social Security Insurance Act, one of the most important pieces of social legislation in American history. See job advertisements from the era; Social Security posters; photos of those responsible for the creation of Social Security (Townsend, Long & Coughlin); image of an original social security card; and letters from people at the time who had their lives saved/improved by Social Security. Led by Jeffrey Urbin, Education Specialist at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum.
