Mystery/Thriller Writers Tess Gerritsen and Hank Phillippi Ryan In Conversation
Wednesday, November 29, 2023
We are so excited to welcome Tess Gerritsen to the Ashland Library to celebrate the book birthday of a brand-new espionage series about retired CIA operative Maggie Bird and her colleagues—the Martini Club—which launches with THE SPY COAST, which was just published on November 1, 2023. Tess will be in conversation with mega-mystery writer, Hank Phillippi Ryan whose most recent book, "The House Guest", is the quintessential cat-and-mouse thriller which asks the age old question, "who is REALLY the cat and REALLY the mouse?". We hope you can join us for this every special, in person only, event.
Exciting News: **There will be an ASL interpreter at this event.
Books by both authors will be available for purchase and signing from Aesop's Fable, our favorite independent bookstore!
About SPY COAST:
In the novel, Maggie Bird has left her spying days behind and is enjoying a quiet retirement as a chicken farmer in a small town on the coast of Maine. But when an agent turns up at her door with a warning that there’s been an agency breach regarding her mission from sixteen years ago, Maggie realizes she and her former colleagues may be in danger, and their grey hair and advanced ages are no longer a protective disguise. When the agent turns up murdered in her driveway, she gets the message, and turns to her local circle of old friends—all retirees from the CIA—to help uncover the truth about who is trying to kill her, and why. Complicating their efforts is Purity’s novice police chief, Jo Thibodeau, who’s perplexed by this eccentric group of senior citizens who seem to know much more than they’re sharing with the authorities. Maggie’s hunt for answers will force her to revisit a clandestine career that spanned the globe, from Bangkok to Istanbul, from London to Malta. The ghosts of her past have returned, but with the help of her friends—and the reluctant Jo Thibodeau—Maggie might just be able to preserve the tranquil life she’s made for herself.
About Tess:
Tess Gerritsen is the internationally bestselling writer of thirty novels published in forty countries, with more than forty million copies sold globally. She was a trailblazer in the mystery/thriller genre when she created her Rizzoli & Isles series, as she wrote about the partnership between two powerful female characters who used their respective skills to solve crimes. The series became a global hit and inspired the long-running TNT television series Rizzoli & Isles starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander.
