Help Bring Inclusionary Housing to Ashland
As a part of the Ashland For All planning process, the Town is drafting an inclusionary housing bylaw that will require a share of housing units in new developments to be available to low- and moderate-income households.
ASHLAND – Are you concerned about the rising cost of housing in Ashland? Do you want to ensure Ashland continues to be a welcoming place for everyone? Do you think new development in Ashland should come with community benefits? Please join us for a public forum to learn about inclusionary housing. Over the summer, the Ashland Board of Selectmen and Planning board voted unanimously to adopt an updated housing production plan (HPP) that was completed with assistance from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC). The updated HPP outlines recommendations for several new policies to address the Ashland’s housing needs. Drafting an inclusionary housing bylaw is a top priority for the Town and will be drafted based on the data gathered in the plan and shaped by continued public input.
Join MAPC, Town of Ashland staff, members of the Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, and Ashland Affordable Housing Trustees for a public forum on Monday, Oct. 18, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. online. Learn how inclusionary housing works, its advantages, and its limitations. Share your thoughts on what the goals and priorities for this policy should be. Your participation will help the Town craft an inclusionary housing policy that is right for Ashland. Due to public health safety concerns, this meeting will take place via Zoom, and the format of the meeting will be interactive with several ways for attendees to offer input and ideas.
