General comment:
The site contractors are aware of critical times during the day when traffic to the train station is high and will make all efforts to not adversely impact or delay commuters. Please expect delays and plan accordingly. One lane will remain open during construction. The contractor had to leave several plates in the road today. They will mark the plates with cones along the side of the road.
Week ending 1/13/2017 construction activities:
Construction work began on the project this week. Clearing along the edges of the road have been completed along with the installation of erosion control measures.
Next week (1/16-1/20) construction activities:
Work will take place on Monday the holiday. The contractor will continue to mobilize to the site. On Tuesday two separate crews will begin with utility installation. A crew will begin at the development site installing the gas main off the edge of the road towards
On West Union: A second crew will begin sewer installation adjacent to the high school fields and install the new sewer toward the train station in the roadway. This work will continue through next week.
Week ending January 12th, 2017.
The contractor has been informed by Eversource Gas that they are ready to install the gas line in the MBTA access road.
The plan is to commence work next Tuesday the 17th of January. The pipe material is already on site. The total job is expected to last about three weeks.
The Dow company were also scheduled to begin work next Tuesday on the sewer but that has been delayed due to survey control issues.
The contractor Reed Construction will be in touch with Ashland Police to secure the necessary details.
We will strive to stay out of the road between the hours of 8am and 4pm. This will allow us to miss some of the busiest trains (7:56 am inbound and 4:12pm, 5:11pm outbound).
The start time for the first day may need to be around 7:30am to allow our site contractor to open up some trench ahead of the gas company.
