[ARCHIVED] West Union Transmission Sewer Replacement - Project Status

June 16

Contractor has completed the Christy Lane top course pavement work.

The Contractor has scheduled the Brook Street paving work for Monday and Tuesday June 19 & 20th. The work will include removal of the pavement, edge of road to edge of road on Monday. The Contractor will return Tuesday to install binder pavement from edge of road to edge of road in Brook Street to the beginning of Columbus Avenue.

To facilitate this paving work the Contractor will close Brook Street off to vehicle traffic at 8:00 am on Monday and Tuesday, as the roadway width is too narrow to safely allow vehicle traffic at all times throughout the day. The Town is requesting that you park your car(s) on Columbus Avenue prior to 8:00 am, if you need to leave Brook Street during the day. The roadway should be open to traffic by 3:00 pm.

If the work is not completed on Tuesday the Contractor will mobilize Wednesday morning around 7:00 am and close the road at 8:00 am and complete the binder installation.

Once the pavement is installed the road will remain closed to vehicle traffic for a minimum of one (1) hour to allow the pavement to cool, to prevent “rutting” by cars. The top course pavement and driveway aprons will be completed at a later date. The same work will be scheduled for Columbus Avenue once the Gas Company completes their work.

Gas company anticipates completing the gas main installation next week.

Loam and Seed: Contractor has completed some loan and seed work along the project. We will review the entire project and identify areas that required attention.

Finish Road Restoration: Permanent paving work will be completed during the spring/summer season. This will allow settlement in the trenches, if any, to occur before finish paving.
