Downtown Water Project Update: 7-22-19
The Water Main Project in downtown begins today (7/22/10). The installation of temporary above-ground water mains will allow existing water mains to be cleaned/relined or replaced.
The crews are out there this morning installing the water main bypass on the following streets:
- Fountain Street (from Bridge to Front Street)
- Front Street
- Concord Street (from Bridge to Front Street)
- Main Street (from Mill Pond to the Post Office)
- Water Street
- Small section on Pleasant Street near Main St.
It will take approximately 2 weeks to install the temporary pipe, flush and disinfect the lines before they start connecting buildings to the temporary lines.
There will be work along the side of the road but both lanes will be open. There should be little impact to traffic; however it always helps to give yourself a little extra time.
The Summer Street Project is tentatively scheduled to start on the first week of August.
